At The Agape Center, we believe that the power to change lies within each one of us. We are all products of our environments and experiences. Often we develop coping strategies to deal with challenging circumstances. At some point these coping strategies, once traits that helped us to survive, no longer serve us and are keeping us stuck. Bringing awareness to our current situation can help us to acknowledge and accept our past and recognize the need for change.
We believe the most powerful tool we can offer others is our ability to authentically, genuinely, and completely listen. Our work as clinicians is grounded in listening. In establishing a safe, supportive, and nurturing co-created environments. It is rooted in helping people find their voice and trust their own ability to change their lives.
The power of being present and fully at the moment can transform lives. Being able to pause, take a breath, and be mindful can alter our reality. It is in this pause where we can be still and choose rather than react. When our brains have been hardwired to respond because of trauma and adversity, we must actively seek to disrupt these patterns. We believe that understanding our patterns can help us to avoid repeating ones that no longer serve us.
